The purpose of the Chest Restraint Vest is to provide support to the sternum, ribs and sore muscles in patients who have undergone surgery that requires opening the sternum such as heart surgery or other chest interventions.
The expected clinical benefits are reduced pain, easier breathing and allows early resumption of activity, thus accelerating recovery.
Correct placement of the Chest Containment Vest:
1 - Unfold and place it on the bed. The manufacturer s label is on the outside of the product and must not touch the patient.
2 - Position the patient on the vest. Make sure it is centered under the patient and that the handles are visible on each side of the patient s head.
3 - Close the brace and ensure that the sternum incision is centered between the integrated straps.
4 - Closes the shoulder straps by connecting them to the front velcro.
Measurements: Place the measuring tape ABOVE the chest to obtain the correct size (see image).
