Mediven® thrombexin® clinical compression stockings with 18 mmHg FOR the prevention of venous thromboembolism. mediven® thrombexin® 18 is a clinical compression stocking used for the prevention of venous thromboembolism in a hospital context.

- Secure fixation with the silicone fixation band.
- Antibacterial toe cap.
- Soft and breathable mesh.

The indications for mediven® thrombexin® 18 are:
- Prophylaxis of venous thromboembolism in immobile patients - pre, intra and postoperative.
- Prevention and treatment of postoperative and/or post-traumatic edema.

Immobile patients have special needs during their hospital stay: the inactivity of the muscle pump reduces the velocity of venous flow, resulting in an increased risk of venous thromboembolism and the formation of postoperative or post-traumatic edema. The use of regressive compression has an impact on increasing venous flow velocity, thus preventing thrombus formation and reducing edema.

For an effective prevention of venous thromboembolism and edema, it is essential to apply a regressive pressure, which decreases in the distal-proximal direction. In a comparative test(1) mediven® thrombexin® 18 was found to be the best clinical compression stocking in terms of biomechanical properties. The authors point out that the winner of the test is medi s medical compression stocking for the prevention of thromboembolism. This was the only sock able to meet all the test criteria.

Mediven® thrombexin® 18 offers benefits for patients and healthcare professionals:
The high elasticity and the particularly soft and breathable mesh, with antibacterial toe cap, provide a high sense of comfort. The smart silicone band allows you to confirm the choice of the correct size and provides a secure fit. The color coding system and smart band are an important aid in selecting the correct size and make putting the sock on easy. The branding on the heel ensures correct positioning of the mediven® thrombexin® 18. The heel, with a velvety inner surface, reduces the risk of pressure sores forming. The highly breathable mesh allows for active transport of moisture from the inside out, reducing the risk of maceration.

Characteristics:
- Clinical compression stocking with perfect anatomical fit and precisely defined compression gradient.
- Antibacterial toe cap.
- Plantar opening that allows an easy and quick control of the peripheral capillary perfusion without having to take off the stocking.
- Perfect fit guaranteed by smart fastening band with size indication.
- Heel with velvety interior for pressure relief.
- Color marking on the heel to facilitate the correct placement of the sock.
- Color coding system for quick and simple selection of the right size.
- Suitable for thighs with perimeters up to 90 cm.

Benefits:
- When applied correctly, the mesh prevents zones of withers and window edema.
- The easy handling saves time and facilitates the work of health professionals.
- Increased therapeutic adherence due to the high elasticity and especially soft and breathable mesh.
- High cost-effectiveness due to the possibility of reuse.

Intended use:

- Circular-knit medical compression stockings are indicated for the compression of the lower limbs, namely for the prevention of diseases of the venous system.

Indications:
- Prophylaxis of venous thromboembolism in immobile patients – in the pre, intra and postoperative period.
- Prevention and treatment of postoperative and/or post-traumatic edema.

Contraindications (absolute):
- Severe occlusive peripheral arterial disease (IPTB -lt. 0.5, ankle artery pressure -lt. 60 mmHg, toe pressure -30 mmHg or TcPO2 -20 mmHg instep).
- Decompensated heart failure (NYHA III + IV).
- Septic phlebitis.
- Phlegmasia cerulea dolens.
- Severe edema in the leg.

Contraindications (relative):
- Exudative dermatosis.
- Intolerance to compression material.
- Severe paraesthesia of the lower limbs.
- Advanced peripheral neuropathy.
- Chronic primary polyarthritis.

Material composition:
- 18% elastane, 82% polyamide.
